Tour description: Etruscan Necropoli
The Tarquinia and Cerveteri Necropoli are the most imposing in Etruria region (now Tuscia)and one of the most magnificent in the entire Mediterranean.
A major centre of Etruscan civilisation that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.
These monumental tombs, adorned with scenes of human life (hunters, fishermen, musicians, dancers, jugglers and athletes) are located inside “tumuli” partly cut into the tufa rock and partly built over it. The Necropolis stretches for more than two kilometres.
Wander the streets of this “city of the dead”, enter its houses, and take a trip back in time.
